A man named Juan Salas showed us one of his pets--a red huacari monkey.

Juan's daughter, Tattiana (ten years old), became Robin's best friend in the area. Tattiana loves to fish.

So does Robin! Here she's caught a piranha--yep, the kind that bite. But guess who got bitten? Robin ate the fish for dinner!

Every day we headed off with our guide, Walter Soplín, who showed us different places in the forest.
The Amazonian rain forest is so lush and dense that it often looks like an impenetrable wall of vegetation.

The forest is full of animals, such as this river cayman that a guide named Rudy is showing us.

The most abundant species are insects, which show up almost everywhere. . .

. . . in a bizarre variety of forms. (This one is a stick insect.)
