This hotel--run by a travel company called Amazonia Expeditions, Inc.--is built on stilts so that it doesn't get flooded when the river rises during the rainy season.

We stayed in a room made of wood and mosquito netting. (Isn't life strenuous?!)

The hotel's view is this peaceful stretch of the Tahuayo River.

People who live in the area often get around in skinny dugout canoes.

Most Peruvians are very friendly. Everywhere we went, Robin and I found lots of friends.
