As part of the research for my adventure novel Survival of the Fittest, I traveled to
Peru with my daughter, Robin, to visit the rain forest.

We flew by plane to Iquitos, a large city (population 400,000) right on the Amazon River.
Here's an open marketplace in the neighborhood called Belén.

Then Robin and I left Iquitos by boat. . .

. . . and rode for almost three hours up the Amazon to a tributary river called the Tahuayo.
| ||||||||

We rode another two hours until we arrived at a hotel that looks like a huge treehouse.
